Q. How do I install the files I downloaded from your site?

Regarding Skins / Meshes / Objects Installation

This depends on the type of object/skin you download and the format.

1. If you have a zip or rar file, then you need to extract it using WinZip [ http://www.winzip.com/ ] or WinRar [ http://www.rarlabs.com/ ] Extract the files to your desktop, and then do only one of the following steps.

2. If you have a .sims2skin file, just double click on it and the Maxis installer will launch and copy the file to the correct place. You do not need to do anything else - just launch the game and enjoy your new content. If you have a .package file, go to step 3.

3. If you have a .package file you need to copy them into the following directory:
My Documents-->EA Games-->The Sims 2-->Downloads

*NOTE: If the downloads directory doesn't exist, then you can create it by going to File - New - Folder, and rename the folder "Downloads".

Q. What is CEP and where do I download this?

CEP (Color Enabler Package)

CEP or Colour Enabler Package was created by Numenor and RGiles, and the Setup was created by Uecasm.

You will need this if you want to use or create Recolors for The Sims 2. Recolors are objects that came with the game but now has a different "look" or "texture" on them that have been altered by modders.

It is a very small program (approx. 320kb) and you download this as a .zip file. Once saved to your computer, extract the content and double-click on the Program and it will automatically install it for you.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Please read this note before installing the CEP!

Q. Why are some pieces named 'beta'?

'Beta" means it's still in Testing Mode

"Beta" means it's still in testing phase and you install them at your own risk!

I tried my very best to keep all my uploads as clean and neat as humanly possible! All the meshes and objects run fine in my own game. But like I said, I can't guarantee that you might not have any problems with them.

Safest thing to do is to back-up your Sims 2 data before running a downloaded program or installing a mesh.
You can do so by saving a copy of your Sims 2 folder by going into: C:\Documents and Settings\USER\My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2.

A program that I strongly recommend is "Sims2Pack Clean Installer".

This program allows you to scan for unwanted hacks or empty packages before you install them!

Q. What about terms of service? Can I re-texture the items downloaded from www.medaonline.com?

Regarding Recolors...

These are for your PERSONAL USE ONLY! If you plan to use any of my creations as bases for redesigns, recolors etc, please contact me at info [at] medaonline.com before doing so and get proper consent from me.

Please do not take anything from this site and claim as your own.

Please don't put it up on the Sims Resource or the Sim Exchange (sims2.ea.com) or ANY OTHER PAY SITES!

Regarding Meshes...

Please feel free to re-skin and upload to the MTS2 site or any other FREE SITES for others to use - BUT... here comes the fine-print...

1) Mention that I'm the creator of the mesh (and for recolors of the skin if you are recoloring the original skin that came with the mesh. Please contact me if you will be recoloring the original mesh so I won't repeat the designs)

2) Include my Readme file so people can be clear on installation as well as terms of service.

3) And link to my site: http://www.medaonline.com

Please DO NOT put it up on the Sims Resource or the sims2.ea.com or ANY OTHER PAY SITES!
Everyone had worked very very hard on these. It wouldn't be fair to anyone if people abuse this honest system.

*NOTE: These altered-meshes are still Beta, and you install them at your own risk!
